“The main challenge on The Search was creating a commercial style grade in a long form context. The set colours were pulled into pastel tones that complimented the feel of the show. I lifted Little Mix away from the set with keys and contrast curves.
Ultimately we gave The Search its own unique style – a long form show boasting a short form aesthetic.”

“For this run of episodes, we were tasked with finessing the look of the distinctive individual elements of the audition show.
We used a variety of picture-in picture, composition & graphic overlay techniques to convey the connection between these separate areas: the ‘Sofa/Audition’ space, the ‘Last Look Room’, ‘The Band Room’, ‘Rehearsals’, ‘Concert Audition’ and ‘Deliberation’.
Each contestant is introduced with a brief stylised graphic sequence, timed to work with the music track, accompanied by footage of a family member or an internet search comped into large phone-screens, tracked to their movement. The ‘deliberation’ section is designed to create an interactive ‘Minority Report’-style gesture-based user interface, where the Judges decisions are swapped in real-time.
The opening pre-titles, post-titles and pre-credits sequence are effect-heavy compositions of Little Mix concert material, audition tapes, super-vibrant social media section with Instagram/Twitter overlays and distinct Band Category GFX. Once all of these formats /techniques were established, we were tasked with retaining the look and feel throughout the series.”
